CCS/CODECOMPOSER: CCS v7.1 install on Ubuntu 16.04 fails miserably

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am trying to install CCS v7.1 on Ubuntu 16.04 (64bit) but it fails part way through the install. I then entered some text into the Error Report dialogue, which caused another error when I tried to select Allow TI to contact me about this report, and then it failed to send the report with a Submit Failed. Clicking OK make the entire this disappear. Pretty sorry state of affairs.

If someone can please tell me which files are of relevance to upload for support as the dialogue listing these disappeared with the submit error.

  • Hi Tom,
Are you using the web installer or the off-line installer? If you are using the former, can you try the off-line installer?

If you are indeed using the off-line installer, have you gone through the installation troubleshooting guide?
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Troubleshooting_CCSv7

If that guide does not help, please send the installation logs:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Troubleshooting_CCSv7

    Thanks

  • I used the offline installed, it installed but I ran into the known issue e2e.ti.com/.../604599

But I am up and running now.
Will the above be feed back as an issue with the online installer? It is very frustrating when you have a poor internet connection, wait all that time for it to download for it to then fail and the answer to be to use the offline installed - why not have this as the default option or scrap the online installer?
  • You raise a fair point. The reliability of the on-line installer is such that perhaps the off-line installer should be the default again. At one point it was the default but the feedback at the time was that an almost 1GB download was too much, especially for people who are interested in only a subset of components (why download installers for everything when I only need some of them?). But we may have to revisit this decision.

    Thanks for the feedback

  • Thanks Ki.

Just as a follow up note, I guess we are on the other end of the spectrum, we don't mind downloading the 1GB download as we try and download it once then use it on each machine as necessary rather than using the online installer on each, redownloading the same information n times due to our slow internet connection in the office.
