CCS/TMS320F2808: GUI Composer with XDS100 repoting Error: No serial ports found...

Part Number: TMS320F2808

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am trying to connect a board with TMS320F2808 via XDS100V2 to GUI Composer.

While setting the target communication the following error occurs:

It is unclear why i need serail ports when i am working with a XDS100V2.

There are no serial ports present at my computer which is runng Win7 Prof. The Debug Probe XDS100 can be find in the Device Manager:

What is going wrong here?

  • Hello,
I'm not sure why it is looking for a serial port when you have XDS100v2 as your connection. I created the same setup (XDS100v2 debug probe with a F2808 target) using GUI Composer and it connected fine. It looks like some unusual state of your environment. I discussed with the engineers and we are at a loss right now. Can you try rebooting your PC?

    Thanks
    ki
  • Hello ki,
    thank you for your input.

I tried to connect after booting my PC with a new project in GUI Composer with the same result as discribed above.
With Code Composer Sudio 7.3.0 i am able to connect to the target.
Any ideas? Should i reinstall some compnents?
  • What browser are you using? If it is not Chrome, can you try using Chrome?

If that fails (or you are already using Chrome), can you close your browsers and delete the following folders:

    C:\Users\<user name>\TICloudAgent
    C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Texas Instruments\TICloudAgent

And then try again? You will be prompted to download and reinstall the cloud agent again. Please let me know how it goes.

Also, what vendor is your XDS100v2 debug probe?

    Thanks
    ki
  • Hi ki,

I tried to run with Chrome (Version 63.0.3239.84 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)) but the results are the same as with Firefox 57.0 (64-Bit).

    In addition i deleted:

    C:\Users\<user name>\TICloudAgent
    C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Texas Instruments\TICloudAgent

No other behaviour after reinstalling the cloud agent.

I am using XDS100v2 from Spectrum Digital.

    Are there any other suggestions!?

  • Arun,
Your issue is unrelated to the original issue posted here. For your issue, please see the below link in the troubleshooting guide:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../ccsv7_debugging_jtag_connectivity_issues.html

Note that some of the utilities mentioned such as "xds100serial" come with CCS. So you may need to install CCS to troubleshoot this issue.

    Thanks
    ki
