Up until now I've been using CCS v188.8.131.52 on WinXP Pro SP3 with target TMS320C5505 EVM (Assy 510880 Rev E). Recently I've switched to CCS v4.1.0.02002 and have a question regarding a functionality found in CCSv3, which I haven't been able to work in CCSv4.
In CCSv3 there is Tools->"C55 Trace FIFO", and when looking for the same functionality in CCSv4, the closest I've found is Tools->Trace Control. However, when I select this menu entry, CCS tells me:
"Error: An error occurred connecting to Channel Server. Make sure this target supports tracing and it's connected. Native error message: "Channel server creation failed."
The target DO support tracing (as I said, I did it using CCv3 on the same 5505EVM board), and yes, it's connected. I can use normal debug functions just fine. The target is configured as:
Connection: "Spectrum Digital DSK-EVM-eZdsp onboard USB Emulator"
Board or device: "EVM5505"
There is no way to view the trace FIFO in CCSv4 at this time. The Trace Control item you found is for a different kind of tracing available on other devices.
