CCS/TMS320LF2407A: TMS320LF2407 Compiler + JTAG support

Part Number: TMS320LF2407A

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

We have a Spectrum Digital TMS320LF2407 EVM which has JTAG support, and a TI 510 USB JTAG interface. Is there any way to use this newer JTAG device with the CCS 3.3? Or alternately, a way to use the 3.3 compiler tools with CCS 8? Much thanks.

  • Daniel,

It is not possible to use the F24x tools with CCSv8. CCSv3.3 was the last version to support F24x development. If this is a new project we really recommend using a newer development platform. There are low cost C2000 LaunchPads which are supported by the current development tools:

As far as using the TI 510 USB JTAG with the F2407 EVM it may be possible. First TI didn't make a 510 USB product. Spectrum Digital and Blackhawk were the main vendors. There are XDS510 products around that have TI branding on them but they are not TI products, they are clones that come from China. Lots of people use them but if you have an XDS510 that says TI on it I would be a bit careful.

Another thing to watch for is that some of our CCSv3.3 licenses were limited in what they supported.

Honestly I would just use the JTAG support built into the F2407 evm. The standalone 510 would be a little bit faster but could be a pain to setup and find the correct drivers for (depending on who made it).

    Regards,
    John
