This is interesting; I've never seen this warning message before.

Here's a quick explanation: behind the covers, UniFlash uses the same licensing component as CCS, so it is picking up an expired evaluation that was used for CCS on the machine. But since UniFlash does not need any license to work, you can safely ignore the warning message; although it might be a little misleading, especially if you are writing a script to catch warnings/errors.

On an unrelated issue, we did make a change recently that will make it so this message will not appear. I think that particular change should either be picked up in the next UniFlash (2.2) release, coming out this week, or the release after that. I have to look up the information to see if the fix was picked up or not.

Please try out UniFlash 2.2 when it is available and let me know if the message is still showing up.

Could you please open a command prompt and type:

set TI_DS_ENABLE_LOGGING=1

set TI_DS_LOGGING_OUTPUT=c:\temp\uniflash.log

and then start uniflash from that command prompt? Once it crashes, there should be a log in c:\temp that you can attach to this forum thread.

Yes, it is accurate as it uses the cycle counters embedded in the Cortex A core. However, according to this thread you will need to update your CCS to v5.4.

Hi,

when you enter debug and load the code a .obj file should be created in a debug folder in your project. Utilities are provided with ccs to convert this to a bin file. The path to the utility should be similar to this from my installation for example

C:\CCS\5_4RC1\ccsv5\utils\tiobj2bin

Hi Saurabh,

there is a functional simulator for the 6657, however I do not believe there is a cycle accurate one. Is there a specific need you have or would the functional simulator help . We saw some issues in older v5 versions regarding the simulator packaging so I would recommend moving the the latest release, v5.4. I would fully unzip and install a fresh installation of v5.4 into a new simple folder like c:/myccs.

Aamir,

Unfortunately I don't have a BH560m with me to test the same sequence of commands as you, but the error reported by CCS indicates it could not find the emulator. Therefore I wonder if the BhProbe utility somehow locked the emulator (thus preventing any further accesses by any other utility) or is still running when you try to do the test connection (highly improbable, but I needed to ask).

In any case, I would try to switch USB ports and try to run the Test Connection again without running the BhProbe - also, see if you can simply connect to the target without performing the Test connection. It is highly unusual the Test Connection fails and the CCS connection does not, but it is worth a try given your target configuration is very unusual.

Also, given this JTAG scan chain is rather long, I suggest you trim the JTAG Clock speed in case you run into connection errors or instability.

I don't think its a limitation on the xds100v2 emulator as the SYS/BIOS Stairstep example I believe works with that emulator. Have you given that a try?

When you say you are trying to program the NOR boot loader, are you using a CCS project or trying to do this from the u-boot?

If from a CCS Project, you shouldn't be running u-boot, Linux or other things in the board, but should be using a GEL file in your configuration (to properly configure the external memory, PLL and other things). A few threads discuss this subject (check one here).

If you are trying to program the NOR via u-boot commands, then you should not be using the JTAG.

Hello,

I hope my thread is placed here correctly... since Blackhawk didn't give an answer right away maybe someone of this community has encountered the same issue:

I'm using CCS 5.3 with an Blackhawk System Trace Emulator working on an F28M35C Concerto device. When debugging on the ARM M3 core with CCS I'm frustrated because it will always erase and program the flash when switching to the debugging session, even when there are no changes in the out-file. It is possible to change the debug options just to make a verify but then if there are changes the debug session will quit because of that and not ask me if I want to program the new out-file. Stupid!

Also, quite often the debug session is quit when starting because of corrupted DWARF symbol information. Because of the exit of the debug session I can't load the symbol information manually. So I have to start the debug session again, the flash is erased again and programmed again. After several tries (2-4) it works eventually. But this makes me angry as well. So much wasted time!

Also it is not possible to update variables or handle (set/enable/disable) breakpoints when the application is running which is also not very comfortable! When stopped or while stepping I loose the focus on global variables which are not part of the current software object in the watch expressions.

Also I need some help in an advanced searchin CCS. I'm not able to search for a text in the whole project. Sometimes it works, but not in all cases. For instance look for something which is not part of the code... I know that I have to be careful which project is active (sometimes it is not quite clearly shown in the project tree!). I have tried out several search methods [Str+H] but neither is really reliable. Is it because of the linked ressources? But with [F3] I have no problems. I still use Codewright for editing my code since it has some nice features which I really miss in the eclipse environment.

So now my question: Who is responsable for this inconviencieses? The CCS software, the emulator, the eclipse toolbox, ... the stupid user (me)?

I have the same problem, my license expired few days ago and I need CCS now. It says that i can activate 30 days extension, But it does not allow me to do so. In the website it says that the MAC address has already been used.

Please any help is appreciated. It is kinda urgent.

Hi,

i am doing signal processing on a C28345 processor and i need the Single Time Graph tool for my work. I open the graph window by right-clicking on a integer array in the "Expressions" View. I am having problems with the scaling of the vertical axis. The Graph seems to use a random value for scaling and cuts my graph on the top. I have tried right-click->Reset Autoscale on the graph with no effect. As autoscaling doesnt work properly i have tried to disable it (right-click->Auto Scale) but i cant find a way to set the graph scaling manually. In CCS3.3 there was a Graph property "Max Value" to set ste scaling right but i cant find this in CCS5.4.

Please help me with this because graphing is an essential Tool for my work!

I have CCS ver 5.1.1 ans CCS ver 5.3.1 on my computer(windows7, 32bits).

All work properly with clearcase in CCS5.1 and doesn't work in CCS5.3.

Thanks for your reply. With the help of your example I found my bug. In the filed 'Start Address' I filled in the variableName instead of &variableName. Now its obvious I have to assign the address instead of the variable content.

One further question arised. I guess I can adjust mesuring rate with the field 'Sampling Rate Hz' in the graph property. I enabled 'Continoues Refresh'. However, independent of the value in the field 'Sampling Rate Hz' the refresh is executed at the same rate approximately 1 Hz. How can I adjust this?.

I already tried the solution with the breakpoint as described in your last post. But when I set the breakpoint to refresh the windows, when the variable changed this will cause the program to crash. Probably because the varible is updated too often. How can I update the graph in a reasonable speed without 'disturbing' the controller too much?

I didn't have an uninstaller for blackhawk so i left it intact and the reinstall went good. Thank you for your post, that error message you got has been plaguing me for a few days. A quick note if anyone else ends up reading this for the same issue, Crap Cleaner has a registry fix in the free version that cleaned all the left over registry files for me saving me a bit of time.
