OpenCL on TI DSP

Currently the OpenCL implementation is not yet released in any of the software packages.You may want to post in the compiler forums to see if they can provide you a pre-release to try out.

There is an OpenMP implementation in MCSDK package which supports only multicore DSP platforms. There are no current plans to support this software on single core DSP or ARM+DSP platforms.

Can you provide me link to MCSK  software package ?

I guess the software package is MCSD. Also I could not find anywhere in the available documents (at http://www.ti.com/dsp/docs/dspsplash.tsp?contentId=145764&DCMP=dsp-mc-mum-120206&HQS=dsp-mc-mum-mcc ) about OpenCL support.   It only talks about OpenMP.

The question is I how do program it in OpenCL ?

I think what Rahul is saying is that sometimes while TI develops new stuff with alfa and beta packages they do not make the download link public , so you may get them asking in the forum (I think that this happened with the MCSDK with OpenMP support).

When should we expect the release of OpenCL on C6000 devices?

The white paper "Accelerate multicore  application development with KeyStone software" http://www.ti.com/lit/wp/spry231/spry231.pdf,  released in February 2013, mentions that OpenCL is supported within MCSDK. Could you please inform me how to get this latest SDK?

There is one detail about the OpenCL solution I want to make clear today.  It will not be a general solution that can be applied to any C6000 based system.  { The original post went on in error.  Please see my next post in this thread. }

Is it really the case that the initial OpenCL solution will not work on channel-distributed devices that are similar to the TCI6636K2H (for example, the 66AK2H12, which is another Keystone II device with 8 C66x cores and 4 ARM Cortex-A15 cores)?  If so, that is quite a disappointment!

My previous answer is too specific.  The initial OpenCL solution will work with the 66AK2Hx Evaluation Module.  That page lists the SOCs that EVM supports, and the 66AK2H12 is among them.

The important point is that the initial solution will not work on a system composed of an x86 box running Windows or Linux and some kind of C6600 DSP card installed in it.

OpenCL is released on ARM -DSP platform keystone2 . But It seems to supports DSP/CPU as Accelerator/ Kernel and 4 core CPU as Host platform.

 I am using 66K2H12 platform with OpenCL.
