build problem with compiler v7.x.x

I presume you are working with the C6000 compiler.  Please be very specific about the compiler version numbers.  Please show exactly how the linker is invoked.  Copy that from the build console view in CCS.  

Please see if this wiki article on long link times is useful.  My guess is it won't fix the problem, but it is fairly easy to try.

Generally speaking, linking hangs while using 6.1.x and up (e.g. 6.1.x, 7.0.x, 7.1.x, 7.3.x, etc) but works for 6.0.x. 7.3.1 is one of them tried. While 6.1.2 is used, linking hangs with a message: "C:/Program Files (x86)/Texas Instruments/C6000 Code Generation Tools 6.1.2/include/math.h", line 217: remark #681-D: call of function "__isnan" (declared at line 214) cannot be inlined".

Are you linking C++ code that uses templates?

If the linker is "stalled", this remark is unlikely to be related to the problem.

No template is used. The above message comes out, and then the linker runs forever.

Please post the entire contents of the Console view from an aborted build.  Use the icon in the upper right bar of the Console view titled Copy Build Log.

I did another test in v5 using 7.3.1. The command gmake is invoked successfully at the beginning of the build, and 100% build could be completed now. Then, the linker hangs at this 100% build. If I stop the build manually, I get the error that says gmake is not found in path. I am guessing this should be something about the environment variable related to the linker, but this "gmake" path can be strangely found in the beginning of the build.
