Lm5119 Dual synchronous Buck converter is not providing current more than 1-amphere in both Dual supply output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5119

Hi Ti Team,

We are using the LM5119 dual synchronous Buck converter for our application which require 3.3V of 3A and 5V of 4A output , For this we are going with typical Application Schematic given in LM5119 Datasheet.

In our case i can able to get both 3.3V and 5v output but the current capability of both  output voltage is less than 1 Amp Even though the all parts values are same as that mentioned in the datasheet of LM5119.

We are using 19V 2Amp supply to powering  up this board(LM5119 Dual Synchronous Buck Converter ).

Kindly suggest me regarding this issue.!!!!!

  • Hello Manjunath,

I would be happy to help you with your concerns but I need more information. You mentioned the Application schematic in the Datasheet, are you referring to Figure 15? Are you using the evaluation module? If you are using the evaluation module please tell me all modifications that were done to the board, if not I will need the complete design so I may evaluate it.

Also, I noticed you did not use WEBENCH® Power Designer to make you design. Please feel free to try Power Designer to help you create your designs, as the schematic given in the datasheet is not optimized for your design requirement. Follow the hyperlink to WEBENCH® Power Designer and fill in the highlighted values as shown in the attached picture. This will lead you to an optimized design for you requirements. If you have any questions on how to use WEBENCH® Power Designer please let me know.

I look forward to your response.

  • Hi ,

I am not using any evaluation board , I tried to design dual buck converter using the schematic given in datasheet .  I found the design given in the data sheet is not relevant to my specification so I used TI power designer tool to design dual buck converter , the new design works fine now.

I thank for your quick response regarding the issue.
