Tina-TI 9, bugs?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hello all,

I am part of a very small business that designs and builds bespoke, one off audio equipment.

I have just started using Tina-TI and so far I think it is great!

It would appear I am suffering a couple of bugs with Tina TI..

First: I seem unable to export .wav files.  I give the wav a name click save and then noting, no error messages and no wav.

Second: Renumbering does not work. In tools I click renumber components but again nothing.

Am I missing a setting or some thing?

Sorry if this is the worng place to bring this up, I didnt know where to post!

I am using Tina-TI    9.1.30.94 SF-T on a windows XP machine.

Thanks Ed

  • Ed,

This is as good a place as any to ask general questions about a tool.

Exporting WAV files works for me - open one of the WAV examples (File -> Open Examples) and run a transient analysis (ignore the comments in the file about interactive mode, which isn't supported in TINA-TI, only in the commercial version).

When you see the waveform window, export a WAV file. You should get a file which is the first (topmost) waveform in the display. If you click on specific waveforms, those will be exported as the WAV file. Works for me, anyway. Maybe you missed clicking on the waveform to select it before exporting? (that is not obvious).

As for renumbering, that works for me too - if you have things with the same reference numbers in the schematic, and select Renumber Components, reference numbers will change to unique numbers. No selecting needed here, just duplicate reference designators. Works for me, if you can't get it to work please post the file and let me take a look at it.

I'm using all default settings, so I don't think there's anything else to check, here... I'm using an XP machine as well, so...

  • Howdy!

    Thanks for your post.!

    OK, renumbering:

I was expecting all components to be renumbered, from top left to bottom right, for example. I understand now that the renumbering function renumbers duplicated references.    Problem solved. ( or understanding gained)

    As for exporting WAVs:

    I opened the example 'distortion'( file>open examples>WAV file examples>distortion).

    Ran transient analysis.

Form the diagram window, I highlighted the waveform and exported the WAV with no problems.

With my circuit on the other hand no such luck.

I noticed that the example file used a loud speaker as an output, I was using a voltage pin.

Change voltage pin to speaker, I thought.  After looking through all the menus I could not find the speaker output.....

Is the speaker needed to export WAVs? If so, where does it live?

    Thanks Ed

  • Ed,

Ah, you are correct - you need the speaker, because in its parameters you can specify which channel it goes to (left, right, mono). Appears we left it out of the TINA-TI library, so you just need to copy and paste it from one of the example circuits.

Thanks for pointing that out so we can include the speaker in next release!

  • Well done again!

I'm also designing audio products. I started 10 years ago with breadboards ^^

Now I develop with low-cost MSP430 & piccolo launchpad, free CCS5, purepath  wireless, purepath audio for digital, Webench & Tina TI for analog.

I can go to TI seminars, orders samples,

When I'm in trouble, I go to the TI forums.

Well, after all, I can admit that TI only give me the best.

    For sure!

  • hi i'm facing same problem with Tina simulation Schematic-two node plc system (link at the bottom of the post)

i can't export the wave form as a .wav file after transient simulation. this simulation doesn't have anything to do with audio , so why do i need a speaker and if i do need it how do i save simulation data toa .wav file

    thnakyou.

  • Hi Raviteja,

Before I try to answer your query, I would like to understand exactly what problem you are facing and where do you want the transient simulation results to be used? Also, what is the version of TINA-TI you are using?

If you just want simulation result image for reporting purpose, you can always simply copy and paste the image from Diagram Window into Word file or Paint. If you want data, then the 'Export as Text...' option works best. The exported file can be opened and formatted in MS Excel or Notepad++ easily.

    Kindly let me know.

    Thanks!!

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Mahavir,

my goal is to give a input to voltage source from a file , i figured it now , we can use menu options in piece wise linear voltage source , previously i was somehow trying to give input using wav file option , now i figured that it is not what i need.

    Thank You.
