I could not find a simulation model for the MC33078. What op amp would be a good substitute to use for the simulation?
Thanks,
Rich

Hi, Rich,
We have a forum dedicated to modeling. Let me move your post over there, and one of our modeling experts will work with you to resolve this.

Rich,
OpAmp has so many characteristics. By any chance, what kind of parameters are you interested in?
AC parameter? or DC parameter? If it is AC paramater for instance, are you interested in f-3dB only may be?
You can always find compatible opamp using TI opamp selection page:
http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/amplifiers-linear/operational-amplifier-op-amp-products.page
Then from the narrowed selection you have chosen, you can click the product link and see if it has pspice model. Most of our "OPA" parts have pspice model.

Thank you Herman. I ended up using the OPA228 in place of the MC33078. I did try an OPA121 first, but the GBW was too low for my circuit. This did play out in my simulation.
On a side note, how often do new parts get added to the TINA library? Where is the bast place to read how to add Spice models to the TINA library? The Spice model for the OPA836 is on the TI web site, but it is not in the TINA library.
Thanks again,
Rich
Rich,
I am not 100% sure about the answers surrounding addition to TINA library. I'll forward your question to hopefully somebody that knows the answer...
Herman
Rich,
You can add additional models to TINA-TI by running an autoupdate. The instructions for doing this are posted in the E2E simulation & Models Forum at the URL: http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/webench_design_center/f/234/t/196949.aspx
The OPA836 is one fof the models that will be added to the TINA-TI library as a result of the update.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
John
Thank you John,
I updated my library, and all is well in the universe. For future reference, how do I add Spice models to the TINA library? Do you have another post/blog?
thanks again,
Rich
Rich,
The autoupdates are the best way to add models to TINA's internal library.
We will be adding more models to update in the near future.
You can create an external library by maintaining a cache of models (*.TSM files) in a Windows folder. They can be added to a schematic with the Insert/Macro menu command. The *.TSM files can be downloaded from the device product folders on ti.com.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
John
Hello John,
Yes, thank you. This does help. I will keep this post for future reference.
Thanks again,
