CDC586 IBIS Model Issues

When I use the IBIS model for the CDC586 in my simulation, I am not getting a clock waveform at all. Can someone check the IBIS Model?

  • Hi Leslie,

I was able to duplicate the issue. The problem is the model was generated ~15 years ago and we don’t have a history of how the model was generated. The model might not  be of the highest quality.

Anyway, I modified the file/VT table that has an excessive amount of delay that isn’t necessary and seems to be causing this issue.

Please give the attached IBIS file a try and let us know how it goes.

  • Thank you for the update. However it is not working for me. The engineer has now changed his termination scheme to have an R/C at the target device with the source termination changed to 0 ohm. The simulation result that I’m getting does not look like a clock. I tried different resistor/capacitor values but the plot always look like the one below with slight change. Please have someone look into the model again?

  • Please disregard. The engineer was able to resolve his issue.
