TINA/Spice/TPS22918: SPICE model existing on TI website and attempting to put it into present SPICELIB directory, only to find it doesn't function

Part Number: TPS22918
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, ,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

I downloaded the TPS22918 TINA SPICE model from your website.  I put TPS22918_TRANS.LIB, TPS22918_TRANS.TLD AND TPS22918-Q1_TRANS.TSM into C:\Program FIles (x86)\Designsoft\Tina 9 - TI\SPICELIB directory.  When I start up the TINA program is says "New Library Detected: Library must be recompiled.  It may take a few minutes.  Continue?".  I click yes.  Program starts, I click on 'tools, find component' and type in TPS22918, then click on search.  It shows the part in the SPICE macro window.  I then click on 'insert'.   It then gives a message about the macro not being present in the library and asks to be rebuilt.  I click 'yes' but it seems to ignore it since it comes back with the same question.  Now everytime I restart TINA it comes back with the original message about a new library was detected.  Appears to be a vicious software circle that I can't get out of.  Is there another file that I need - or do I need to put the present TPS22918 files into another directory?

  • Hi Garth,

I understand that the library is not getting compiled properly on your system. We have seen this problem occurring in few cases. Please try to run TINA-TI with Administrator privileges (right click on TINA-TI icon and select Run as administrator option) to resolve this issue.

Alternatively, if the problem persists, you can delete all three files from SPICELIB directory, keep the macro file ( TPS22918-Q1_TRANS.TSM) in your schematic workspace where you are saving the testbench locally, and use Insert >> Macro.. option from Insert menu.

Kindly let us know if you still face any issues.

    Thanks!!

    Best Regards,

  • Running it as admin did the trick. A small window opened up with many models being extracted rapidly - including the one for TPS22918. Thanks. gp
