TINA/Spice/DS90LV804: DS90LV804 - importing IBIS model into PSpice

Part Number: DS90LV804
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Dear support team,

I have a problem with IBIS model importing into PSpice. When I try to import the IBIS model downloaded from the component page, it writes an error: Errors during IBIS parsing. Please see ibis2pspice.log for details. The ibis2pspice.log is empty. I also tried to use another IBIS to spice converters but I was not successful. Can you please recommend me how to use this IBIS model? It's 3rd simulation SW which I had to install (LTspice and TINA didn't support IBIS) and I still have no results.

Best regards,

Marta

  • Hi Marta,
We've looked at the IBIS model and there seems to be no major issue that will prevent it from being imported to a proper software that is capable of IBIS simlation(i.e. Hyperlynx).
Can you share additional info regarding the 3rd software? We also recommend that you contact the software vendor for assistance.
    Thanks,
    -Eric
  • Hi,
thank you for your answer. The software I am using is Allegro Design Entry CIS 16.6-p005 (v16-6-112D).
I also tried to use *.dml file created by the IBIS translator, but I got an error during simulation (subcircuit undefined).

    Best regards,
    Marta
  • I would like to also ask about using the component imported from ibis. The converter creates many subcircuits (input models, output models...). How to make just one component with all the characteristics? I tried different ibis models for different components, where the conversion was working, but I always got many circuits with just some of the pins. How to use them?
    Thank you in advance.
    Marta
  • Hi,
I found out how to import the ibis file. After the error occurs, the new file ds90lv804.dml.txt is created at the same folder. When the extension of the created file is changed just to *.dml (delete the the txt), the dml file can be opened with the converter. It is necessary to check the "Create macro-models by Signal Names", otherwise there is an error during the simulation.
I hope it is a correct way, because it was the only working way.

    Regards,
    Marta

  • Marta,

We don't use IBIS models in PSPICE. But the description fits the purpose and construction of IBIS models. Since each IBIS model can contain multiple I/O and some could be inputs, some could be outputs, it makes sense that each buffer model is converted to a subckt.
