Hi,

When I changed the Sw frequency on LM5001 simulation, I got the message "Optimize Data not available".

Is it not supported by LM5001 simulation?

Thanks

Go

  • Go,

    Could you give us more details about the design you were using?

  • Hi, Britt

    Thank you for your comment.

    I did two Webench simulation for LM5001 the conditions below.

    1. Default conditions
    Vin=12 to 36V Vout=48V Iout=0.1A Temp=30C

    In this case, I got the message below when I changed Sw frequency .
    "Optimization data is not available for this design!"

    2. Vin=24V Vout=36V Iout=0.1A Temp=30C

    In this condition, I could chang Sw frequency .

    Thanks

  • Hi, Britt

    Thank you for your comment.

    My customer did Webench simulation for LM5001 under the condition below.

    1. Default conditions
    Vin=20 to 31V Vout=42V Iout=0.3A Temp=70C

    In this case, they also got the message below when changed Sw frequency .
    "Optimization data is not available for this design!"

    What's the problem eith this?

    Thanks

  • Hello Go,

    Sorry for the delay in this response.  I looked into this issue for all three conditions and found that the reason why you are getting the "Optimization data is not available for this design" error message is because of a Phase Margin issue.

    When you change the switching frequency (or when you turn the optimization knob), WEBENCH® will quickly run the design at various different Fsw values and calculate the operating values (Phase Margin, Crossover Frequency, Efficiency, Temperature, etc.) for each of those designs.  If just one design fails to meet specific design limits (i.e, Phase Margin < 35deg or calculated IC Tj > IC Tj Max), WEBENCH will stop running the optimization process and will display the "Optimization data is not available for this design" error message.

    I am currently working to fix this, and should have this resolved in the next couple of days.

    In the meantime, I can create the design for you and share the design report with you so that you and your customer will have a preliminary design to work with while this bug issue is being fixed.  If this interest you, please let me know the exact design input requirements for the design (Vin, Vout, Iout, Ta, Fsw).

    I hope this clarifies things for you.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi, Jonathan

    Thank you for your kind support.

    I'll confirm the actual conditions to my customer.

    Thanks
