WEBENCH® Tools: Webench functionality with obsolete part (LMX2315/6)

My customer has an older design that they want to do some analysis on the open loop gain and phase margin using different components, but their design uses the LMX2315/6 which an obsolete TI device. Is there any way to have Webench still function with these devices despite them having no web presence on TI.com or being available for purchase any longer?

Here is a workaround that can be used to simulate the LMX2316 in WEBENCH Clock Architect:

For the bode plot, the general idea is just choose any part and manually change the VCO frequency, VCO gain, charge pump gain, and feedback divider (N) value.
In WEBENCH Clock Architect, select the LMX2571. Then choose to design the filter and use advanced mode to change this. LMX2516 max charge pump current is 1 mA.
Disable the “integrated” box for R3 and C3 as this is not the case for the LMX2316. Also, the maximum phase detector frequency is 10 MHz, so be aware of this too.
Phase noise, spur, and lock time simulations may be off as these have device-specific information for the models.

I am making some inquiries to see if there is an alternative to EasyPLL that might be available. I will let you know once I have an answer.

Hi Alec,

For clarification, WEBENCH EasyPLL was an early (now decommissioned) PLL design tool that supported the LMX2316. WEBENCH Clock Architect is the current PLL and Clock design tool.
