WEBENCH® Tools/TPS92640: TPS92640:WEBENCH simulation

Part Number: TPS92640
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92510

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi everyone!

As for TPS92640, there are two questions.

Q1: WEBENCH simulation is not possible with TPS92640.
Is TPS92640 not compatible with WEBENCH?

   In the design using TPS92640,
Loop response characteristics (phase, gain) must be evaluated.
   How can I do it?

Q2: In TPS92640, the time from input voltage (VIN) application to switching output may be longer. What can be considered as a cause?

If you have any informations then please let me know.

Best Regards

Shing

  • Hi Shing,
TPS92640 is not yet enabled on Webench but we do have plan to integrate it on Webench coming days.
    Thanks.

  • Hello Shing,

To answer your other questions the loop gain can be measured by injecting a signal across RF (from the CS pin) and measuring the input to output transfer function. See slua628a (designing with the TPS92510) for an example of how to do this, it's the same methodolody. But in reality this device is hysteretic and inherently stable, it is also very high bandwidth as a result.

As for the time until switching that depends on how fast COMP reaches a certain value. That depends on the output capacitance and the COMP capacitance. Reducing either will speed the time up (this device can run with no output capacitance and easily as low as 1nF COMP cap for most apps). I hope that helps.

    Regards,

    Clint
