How can I get Filter Pro to work?

This question is not answered

Yesterday I downloaded Filter Pro at home, where I run Ubuntu Linux, hoping it would work under Wine.

I had no luck with that, as Filter Pro appears to us .NET.

So today I downloaded it again here at work, where we have Windows XP.

The install program first installed .NET; then installed itself; but when I tried to run it it said it had to shut itself down.

Sent a report to Microsoft, as the report box suggested.

So, now, what's the next step?

T.I.A.

    Hello,

FilterPro 3.0 is based on .NET 3.5 hence it will not work on Linux running Mono as Mono is not compatible with .NET 3.5.

For Windows XP, please ensure that you have Service Pack 3 installed. Then download and save FilterPro 3.0 installer from http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/filterpro.html on your local drive and run it. It will ask you to repair your installation. Please proceed with the repair and try launching the application again.

If you still experience the crash then please check Windows Event Viewer log for some detailed error messages and email me directly at f-ali@ti.com so that I can help you troubleshoot it promptly.

Thank you for contacting FilterPro support.

    Sincerely,

    Faisal Ali

    Greetings,

I too have had no success in running FilterPro. I have successfully installed SP3 to my XP operating system and also .net 4.0 which Microsoft assures me contains all enhancements etc. of all previous versions. Have re-installed, repaired FilterPro and re-booted all to no avail. Windows event viewer displays the message, '.net runtime 2.0 error reporting'. I previously ran earlier versions without issues but since re-formatting my HD this current version is the only one available. Can you help please?

    Thanks and cheers,

    Warren

    Hello Warren,

I apologize for the late reply.

I know someone else ran into the same problem and we found the issue to be an environment variable on Windows. Basically, his system variable %windir% was set to %systemroot% and %systemroot% was itself set to c:\windows which is correct but %windir% should be set to c:\windows also.

Please change the %windir% environment variable to c:\windows directly.
In order to do that on WinXP or Win7, please right click on My Computer, select the Advanced tab, then click on Environment Variables. Under the System Variable section, scroll down to find 'windir' and then ensure its value is set to C:\Windows.
Please let us know if this does not solve your problem.
    Thank you,
