I would like to use a UAF42 for a 1000 Hz low pass filter (3 pole+/-) . Downloaded and installed FilterPro TM but can find no way to use it to customize a UAF42 circuit on my Windows 7 computer. Do you have a suggested design or a way in which I can use FilterPro for this purpose ? Thanks. David Cooper MD PhD
Dr. Cooper;
The original Burr-Brown version of FilterPro did support the UAF42 and it also contained valuable information about filter topologies (such as a warning about odd-order MFB HPF instability) but these helpful features were removed by TI when they released their "improved" version. There is, however, an old BASIC program that supports the UAF42; it can be found at: http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/filter42.html
The original Burr-Brown application note can be found at: http://www.stanford.edu/class/ee122/Parts_Info/datasheets/uaf42.pdf
By the way, this never-published Instrumentation Amplifier Handbook may be of interest to you in your work:

I hope this helps.

Neil, Thanks so much for the very prompt and helpful reply. I will follow up on your suggestions. Regards. David.

Be aware that it's a DOS program that I haven't managed to get working under Windows 7. However, an emulator like dosbox or dosemu works.
You'll also want to use the following document to interpert the software's output:
