Part Number: DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2

I am trying to modify the factory firmware to change the default splash screen (using LightCrafter 7.4) and have the following problem.

I power up the projector with an HDMI source connected. Everything works. If I remove the HDMI source, the projector outputs a green image, and seems to ignore any command to switch to pattern, splash screen, or back to the HDMI source if I reconnect it.  The factory firmware does not behave like this.  If I remove the source, a splash screen appears, and if I reconnect the HDMI source, the projector detects it and displays it correctly.

It seems there are some settings that are getting removed if I use the LightCrafter "Update Flash Image" procedure. Is this the case ? Do I need a default batch file ?, and if so, what are the contents of the factory firmware batch files ?

I'm using firmware dpp3439-dual-ASIC_7.3.2.img.

  • Hello Andy,

Have you uploaded the same number and same resolution of splash screens to the EVM? The MSP430 and ITE IC on the EVM will send I2C commands to the DLPC3439 controllers to tell them to switch to splash screens or external video. If you happened to upload a different size splash screen it's possible the code is misbehaving when trying to switch back.

    Hi Kyle,

The images are a different size, 1920x1080.  I'll do some tests with 1280x720 to see if it makes a difference.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
