Part Number: DLP4500
I ordered the DLP4500AFQE from Mouser electronics and it came without the associated DLP350 controller despite the features section indicating that the dedicated controller is a feature of the product. Could you please advise me as to whether the controller should be provided with the DMD? Thanks
Sorry for any confusion. The DLP4500 is the DMD and it requires use with the separately purchased DLPC350 controller. If you are looking for a ready to use module the DLPLCR4500EVM may be a better start. This EVM (evaluation module) contains the DLP4500 DMD, DLPC350 controller, projection optics, LEDs, LED drivers, and other needed electronics and software.

In reply to Kyle Rakos:
We have now received the DLP4500AFQE digital micromirror and the associated DLPC350ZFF controller however we now need a main control board to mount the parts on (with the USB port and so forth) can you advise on what a suitable part would be for this? We didn't want to order the evaluation module because we have an LED source that we wish to use for the DMD patterning.
In reply to Jade Poisson:
It's possible some design houses (such as Keynote Photonics) have some boards. However, I am unaware of anyone who sells PCBs without the controller already attached.
Alternatively you could use our DLP4500-C350REF reference design to develop your own PCB.
Is the DLP4500AFQE compatible with controllers and boards from other companies?
The DLP4500 is simply the DMD that is required to be integrated with other associated components. Many companies use the DMD in their own systems. As long as the datasheet requirements are met, appropriate design is followed, and software is used, the DMD should work. You will want to contact other companies to see what their systems support.
Generally those who buy our ICs directly will build their own boards or use contract manufactures to design boards. If you are looking to get started quickly I would highly recommend buying a complete system. Note our EVMs contain complete electronics and software but are intended for engineering development.
Sorry last question. Can you clarify whether the DLP2010EVM comes with LED light sources themselves? It only appears to mention the LED drivers in the "What's included" section so I wasn't certain.
Yes, the DLPDLCR2010EVM includes the LEDs as well.
