DLPDLCR3310EVM: Selecting alternative video input via FPD Link ?

Part Number: DLPDLCR3310EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC3437

The display board for the DLPDLCR3310EVM module (top board) has an input for a FPDLINK input. If I wish to use this input with an external fpdlink device, does the EVM GUI software for the DLPDLCR3310EVM allow selection of this video input instead of the HDMI input coming from the System board below?

Regards

Tony

  • Tony,

Welcome to the E2E forums, and thanks for your interest in our DLP technology.

I'll investigate whether this external source must be configured or is automatic and let you know within a few days.

  • Tony,

I recommend you review the DLPC3437 programmer's guide for information about this.

In particular, the FPGA portion of the DLPC3437 system can take either FPD-link video or parallel video, and then convert that into parallel video to be accepted by the controller. There are some additional configuration parameters for FPD link but they are treated as one input source by the DLPC3437 (see section 3.1):

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi Philippe,

    Thanks that does help.

The sections in the programmers guide mention the setting up of the FPD Link in 3.1.31 Write FPD Link Data Mode (Offset = 4Bh) Is this the definitely the FPD link on the FPGA input ? This also states the

FPD Bus B is unused in Modes 1 through 6. Is this really correct ?

    Regards

    Tony

  • Tony,

Yes, that should be correct. Thanks for your attention.

  • Hi Philippe,
The documentation in that app note is missing some information.
Table 3-62. FPD LVDS Data Bus Encoding mentions mode 1 to 4, and talk about red/green/blue components. What is the encoding of the other modes mentioned, (upto mode 8)
3.1.33 Write FPD Input Video Chroma Processing Select (Offset = 4Dh) and 3.1.34 Read FPGA Input Video Chroma Processing Select (Offset = 4Eh) refer to YUV processing not RGB ?
We are planning to send 24 bit video from a Zynq to the FPDLINK input, so to answer these questions is it possible to see the source for the FPGA on the video board, related to FPDLINK ?

    Regards
    Tony
  • Tony,

I have directed some communication to the local FAE. In addition, I have added you as a connection on E2E so I can help you with further detail.
