DLPDLCR2010EVM: controlling the DMD

Part Number: DLPDLCR2010EVM

Team,

Please help answer my customer's question on this EVM:

From what I can tell it looks like things are extremely coupled to LEDs, at least in the controller 3435. This is not anything we would need in our application and I am struggling to figure out how to control the DMD in a way that I want. For instance if I want a single column of micromirrors “on” and the rest off how do I command this? The only way I have been able to find is to use “External Video Source Select”, which uses the parallel port to take in RBG values. But it looks like this is from the hdmi signal. Is there a way I can do this with my own DIO hardware?

Another path that might work is to bypass the 3435 controller altogether and simply command the DMD myself. Is there any documentation or examples on how this can be done?

Thanks

Viktorija

  • Hi Viktorja,
What is customer's application? The DLP Pico technology is chipset solution and it includes a DMD, a controller and PMIC IC. The DLP2010, DLPC3435 and DLPA2000/5 is targeted for display application.
If customer application is a light control then DLP2010, DLPC3470 and DLPA2000/5 may meet their requirement. Please review the DLCP3470 controller if you need pixel level control.
Please let me know if you have any additional question.
