DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2: Is there any possibility to add extra lens on projector in order to minimize the projection focus?

Part Number: DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3010

Hi all,

I would like to buy DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2.

1. But I want to make sure that if DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 can be mounted with another lens to make the focus much shorter.

The current focus range of DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 is from 5 inches (Minimum) to 50 inches (Maximum).

I want to make the focus between 5cm to 10cm so that fringe pattern can be projected on the finger.

Do we need to replace the existing lens inside the projector or just put the lens on the projector outside?

And there is no extra reference information in the user's manual guide if any lens can be used.

2. I don't know if the telecentric can help to achieve this effect.

3. Do I need a BeagleBone black for my fringe pattern projection? Besides, I will connect Win10 laptop with the projector to generate the pattern.

So please help me if the effect can be achieved by DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 or any other model of LightCrafter series.

Any kinds of suggestions that are helpful to achieve shorter focus are extremely welcomed.

Thanks for your time!

  • Hello Victor,

I am unsure if any current lenses exist with your desired specificaton. You can view optical modules for the DLP3010 DMD at www.ti.com/.../buy-optical-engine.html. You could also reach out to the optical module manufacturers to see if they sell the lens you are looking for. Obviously you could add your own optics; however, this is difficult and requires specialized knowledge.

As far as the needs for fringe projection - I would recommend you look at our DLP® 3010 Light Control Evaluation Module. This will enable you to stream external patterns and synchronize them with an external camera. There are even internal pattern streaming modes that may negate your need for an external video source all together.

    Thanks,

    Kyle
