DLP3010EVM-LC: Looking for a DLP light engine for waveguide near-eye display prototype

We are building a waveguide see-through display similar to Microsoft Hololens, and we would like to use TI DLP as our light engine for better brightness and contrast.

DLP3010EVM-LC include optical system from Eprotech. I am wondering if this can collimate the beam from DLP chip.

Or May I ask for the most commonly supplied DLPs for near-eye displays? I would like to purchase an off-the-shelf kit, including DLP, LED, and a collimating lens set. We need the outcoming light is well collimated with at least diagonal 30° FOV.

Hello Tao,

To achieve near-eye display functionality with our EVM you would need to first remove the projection lens and then add your own collimating lens which should be an eye-piece design to get good performance. Unfortunately this is likely difficult to do.

For a more complete solution I would recommend contacting one of our optical module manufactures. A list of those with solutions for the DLP3010 DMD can be found at www.ti.com/.../optical-module.html
