DLP2000: DLP2000 evm not working

Part Number: DLP2000

Hi ,

I have a DLP2000EVM with me and it was working fine but suddenly it stopped working . whenever I connnected power to the evm board it used to give me a splash screen , but now when i power the evm (just the evm without the host processor)  the splash screen doesnot come. the status led D2 doesnot glow even once when I power on the board and the Led D3 is continuously on. could you help me troubleshoot . Thanks

  • Hello Sripathi,

Sorry to hear about the problem. Could you please confirm with a multimeter that your power supply is properly inputting 5V? Additionally could you detail any potential hardware or software modifications that were made to the EVM since it was last working? Are you or were you using a Beagle Bone Black before?

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hi,

    1) Yes the multimeter is showing 5v .

    2) Am currently working with host processor as raspberry pi and powering the evm through J3 connector .

    3) i did not do any software modifications , but i have once put  5V pins to connector J4 , instead of J3  by mistake

    4) I have removed the header pins P1 from the evm board

  • Hello Sripathi,

Thanks for the details. When you mistakenly applied 5V to J4 did you apply the 5V to SEL_A1 (pin 2) or ground (pin 1)? See the image below for the two possibilities.

If 5V was applied to pin 1 of J4 (ground connection) then pin 2 (SEL_A1) would have seen -5V. This could potentially damage the flash device as the absolute minimum voltage of the CAT24C256WI-GT3 is -0.5V. If 5V was applied to the device then this would not be a problem.

Since D3 illuminates (which indicates power is working) and D2 is not illuminated (which indicates the initialization routine didn't complete), I think it is possible the flash device was damaged. If you are able to confirm, you may be able to purchase the same device and reprogram the flash.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Thankyou , will try your suggestion and replace the flash and get back .
