DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2: Add extra external lens on DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 projector to minimize the projection area

Part Number: DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2

Hi all,

I have a DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 projector that creates a large image, even if the distance to the screen is short.

I could remove and replace the built-in "lense pack" to make the size of the projected image smaller, but I'd prefer to keep the device unchanged.

1. What type(s) of lense(s) in front of the unchanged device would be required to make the image dramatically smaller?

2. Can positive (converging) lens achieve this trick?

The expected projection area could be 5cm×5cm or even smaller. The quality of the image and the resolution should still be good afterwards.

Thanks for your time!

  • Victor,

Thanks for your interest in our DLP technology, and welcome to the E2E forums.

You want to maintain a 5cmx5cm image size while keeping the projector close to the wall. Is this correct? How far from the screen do you intend to place the projector?
  • Hi Philippe Dollo,

    Thanks for your kind response.

Yes, it's correct. A 5cmx5cm or even smaller image size is preferable.

Currently, the projector is close to the wall(blackboard), and now there is no extra or external lens mounted, the minimum projection(focus) distance according to the user manual of 3010 EVM Gen2 is 5 inch, so now it reaches the limit.

My expected projection distance from the projector to the wall is less than 5cm(less than half of the current projection distance). The projection image will become blur if the projector approach closer to the wall(blackboard).

So I want ask for help if there are any ways that I can achieve small area projection. Thanks for your help!
  • Hi Victor,

Kindly wait some time, we'll get back to you on this in 2 weeks.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Hirak.
  • Hi Victor,

Yes, you should be able to use a converging lens to achieve a smaller image size.

In case you plan to modify the optical engine to achieve this, please note that the optical engine is developed and supplied by Anhua Optoelectronics (www.anhuaoe.com). Please contact them directly for any assistance.

  • Hi Azad,

    Thanks for your kindly reply.

Could you tell me where I can buy the converging lens that matched with LightCrafter projector? The website or approximate price of the converging lens would be vey helpful. Do I need to check the Anhua Optoelectronics website for appropriate converging lens?

Because I don't want to break any existing components on projectors, I expect to just mount an external converging lens on the existing lens of the projector and meet my requirement.

    Thanks for your help!
  • Hi Victor,

The optical design of the DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 is available with Anhua. Please contact them for recommendation of an appropriate external lens.
