DLP3010EVM-LC: Does user need JTAG ?

Hi,

We use DLP3010EVM-LC.
Does it need JTAG for first program to Flash memory ?
Is it available to use only USB for for first program ?

Hi Hiroyasu,

Are you able to boot up the EVM? Did you try to flash the firmware via USB by going to bootloader mode?

No, I want to know How to program bootloader.
In DLP4500 case, It need JTAG. But I do not know DLPC3478 case.

Hi Hiroyasu,

User doesn't need JTAG. The DLP3010EVM-LC comes with a default firmware, the user only needs to update to the latest version available on ti.com using DLPDLC-GUI and USB.

In case the default firmware is corrupt or not available for some reason, the user can still update to the latest firmware using the same method. In this case, please ensure that the EVM is switched off before updating the firmware.

I think two situations.

1. Can I write without JTAG at first assembly ?
2. If I can not write on EVM, do I need JTAG?

In the secound question case, We will try your question.
How about the first question case sound ?

Hiroyasu,

The GUI can be used to program the flash after first assembly if the following conditions are met:

1. Projector switch is in OFF position
2. The MSP430 has been programmed
3. Cypress bridge is correctly configured.

If the above conditions are not met, JTAG must be used to to program flash, please access the SPI flash IC directly using an adapter like Cheetah.

JTAG cannot be used to program flash.
