EVM connectivity problems continued

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC300, DLP3010EVM-LC, DLPLCR4500EVM, DLP4500

This question is in response to a previous thread that was locked.

Hello,

I apologise for the lateness of the reply, we cannot find the part number which you have requested and are unsure what the pico is. I will provide the web link to the products site. I hope this helps.

Thank you,

Stan.

  • Hello Stan,

It looks like the part number is just "DLPLIGHTCRAFTER". This uses the DLP3000 DMD and the DLPC300 controller. There was some confusion as this is a now discontinued device and we have various other versions of it.

    A few questions:

    • You mentioned you have had connectivity issues since the beginning - how long has that been?
    • Have you seen the same connectivity issues on different computers and earlier versions of Windows?
    • Have you been able to communicate using the GUI?

    Thanks,
    Kyle

  • Hey Kyle,

We have had the projector since January and had boot issues with the first boot up.

We have tried it with a variety of computers and versions of Windows. They all cause the same problems regardless.

We have been able to communicate with the GUI however it often fails to connect even after multiple restarts and attempts.

    Thank you,

    Stan.

  • Hi Stan,

Are you able to see the splash screen(image on the wall) when you power up the EVM?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hirak.

  • Hello,

When powering up the EVM loads the boot screen onto the wall but then gets stuck at the end of the loading bar and does not continue.

This happens on the majority of boot attempts.

    Stan.

  • Any further updates? Our team is hoping to resolve this issue before we attempt to reimplement the device intp our set up in september.

  • here is a link to the original locked thread that further details the issue.

  • Hi Stan,

Thank you for confirm which EVM you are using. Unfortunately, the DLP3000 chip (and the LightCrafter EVM) has gone EOL and our team can no longer provide technical support these products. For these reasons I'd like to recommend that you migrate your setup to a newer platform that is supported, like the DLP2010EVM-LC, DLP3010EVM-LC or the DLPLCR4500EVM.

Can you please describe some features you were planning to use from the LightCrafter EVM? This will help us give our best recommendations for the new platform.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

  • Hi Stan,

do you still need the answer to your question? I'll be temporarily closing this thread due to inactivity, you can reopen anytime.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hirak.

  • The model in question was planned to be implemented in an experimental imaging device, specifically the capacity of the device to display binary images at a high pattern rate. This feature is a function of the DLP Lightcrafter software which was intended to be used in our first demonstrations of our set up.

Later we also hoped to use a programming language to interface with the device and have the processes in the software be automated. The I/O trigger on the device was an essential feature for this purpose.

Any advice on what would be appropriate and still supported would be appreciated.

  • Any further assistance would be appreciated on work we could do to improve our model or get our model replaced (if it is faulty)

  • Hi Stan,

My recommendation for you and your team would be to migrate to a new DLP platform immediately. This would allow us to provide support for your setup and help trouble shoot any issues you would have. This would also allow you to not have to re-design your imaging device if you ever wanted to build more, as this part and EVM are EOL.

Our team unfortunately cannot provide any support on the LightCrafter EVM, but we can fully support models currently available on TI.com.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

  • Hi Brandon,

Upon further research we would like to enquire about a product currently available that we could potentially update too.

We are looking at the DLP Lightcrafter 4500. We were wondering if you could provide information on the following:

    1) Would it fit the purpose described in this post (i.e would it work as a platform)

    2) Warranty and Service information: How long will this products shelf life for service be if we were to purchase it, to avoid again having a product that is EOL? What kind of warranty can we get upon purchasing the model?

    3) Where can we get an 'official quotation' on this model which we can provide to our organization to purchase.

    Thanks in advance,

    Stan Richards.

  • Hello Stan,

    1. Based off of your need for a high pattern refresh rate and triggers it sounds like the DLP Lightcrafter would work for you. The DLP3010EVM-LC would also be another alternative.

    2.  You can view our terms of sale with warranty information here. In general the warranty simply covers manufacturing defects for a period of time (see actual terms for full details). However, we generally provide engineering support for as long as the product is active. Our products generally remain active for many years and the DLP4500 EVM has no current plans to be end of lifed.

    3. You can purchase directly from our website here.

    Thanks,

    Kyle
