DLP3010EVM-LC: Smeared image for 12 seconds then nothing

Hello Simon,

While the projector is off could you please confirm the flex cable is securely connected from the DMD to the EVM? Have you also tried reflashing the firmware?

Thank you for your fast response. I'll do the best I can to check what you're asking. My understanding is to look at the connector circled in red right? If so, yes we gently checked to see if it was seated properly. We also flashed the firmware.

We did a few experiments with the projector: it can sustain a low LED intensity for several minutes (smearing are still visible) but as soon as we crank it up it becomes black (communication still works though).

Are you using the latest firmware available at ti.com here :http://www.ti.com/tool/DLP3010EVM-LC.

Is it like that from the beginning you purchased or you have encounter this issue now ? Did you change anything in the EVM ? 

If you don't run anything... just start the EVM standalone without connecting to anything (no USB, no HDMI) are you seeing the DLP splash image correctly ?

This is Hamed from Simon's group. I am trying to help with the issue while he is out of the lab. 

- We are using the latest firmware from the link you provided. We did the firmware re-flash procedure based on the instructions provided by the link, https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp/f/94/t/748857#pi320995=2.

- We didn’t have this problem from the beginning, and we didn’t change anything in the EVM.

- We tried to run EVM without connecting to anything, and the issue still persists.

Please let us know if we need to return the board for repair or replacement.

Thank you for your clues. We followed them but they did not resolve the issue. I just wanted to follow up and see if there is anything else we should have checked that we haven't. 

We would appreciate it if you could let us know what else to do or return it for repairs.

I am playing with 3010 since last week and had this issue on the first day.

Just adjust RGB intensity to lower value(half, quarter).

It will stay splashing the image.

Let me know if it works on your side.

When the image is bad are you able to communicate with the EVM ? If yes, can you try changing the source to TPG or solid color ?

Hi Hamed,

This shows that the issue is in between DLPC and DMD. As you already checked the Flex connections are good an tight, can you please try air blow EVM to remove any particle shorting.

When did you purchase the EVM ?

We tried air blow on the entire module. It is still outputting smeard images.

We purchased the projector beginning of July 2019.
