DLP6500 pattern

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC200, DLP5500

Hi, I am using DLP lightcrafter 6500 to develop a medical equipment. The spec is :540 patterns every second, 1 bit patter image. But because of the limited memory, it can be loaded into 400 patterns. Is there any solution that can load 540 patterns into the memory. Or is there any solution that can display 540 patterns every second? Thank you.

  • Hi jing,

    Welcome to TI E2E forum

Could you specify the resolution required?

I can suggest you to use DLPC200 which has XGA resolution. This can support upto 960 binary patterns @5000Hz

    Thanks

  • Hi Sachin,

Thank you for the suggestion. And the resolution spec is 1080*1920. As the DLPC200 is used to drive DLP5500 which resolution is 1024 × 768, so it's not suitable for my situation. Do you have any other solutions?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Jing,

You can load 540 patterns per second but only 400 of them can be distinct. I assume you need 540 distinct patterns.

Three is one way. Using pre stored patterns, storing the 540 images in flash and loading 400 images at a time and the rest for another instance. This can be done within a second but has the following limitations:

    1. A pause in display after 400th bit pattern as you need to load the rest of them from flash

    2. if you are okay with 1, the pattern rate may exceed 1 second if your images are not compressible below a limit increasing the load time from flash as you load the rest of the 140 images.

We are anyway planning to coming up with a solution to increase the total number of distinct patterns stored with higher resolutions

    Thanks
