DLP6500FYE: How to control and display

Hello, 

I bought the wrong product actually, I want to buy DLPLCR6500EVM originally, but  bought DLP6500FYE instead due to some mistake.

And I want to use it for display some images only. Can anybody provide me some materials or teach me how to control it ?

Should I need to buy something else like DLPC900  to control  DLP6500FYE ?

Or can we just send the DLP6500FYE back to TI to do more process and package to make it as DLPLCR6500EVM  and pay more money ? We haven't use it.

    Hi Tsai,

    Welcome to DLP section of TI E2E forum.

    You will need a controller(DLPC900) to control the DMDs and display images. You can build your own layout for your application or use TI provided EVM. It would be simple and faster to use TI provided EVM unless you need to customize the board for your application. 

    Hence, I would suggest you to use TI provided EVM unless you don't need anything special which is not supported in our EVM. We can help you if you can explain me the application you need to build

    Thank you for your reply.

    We don't need anything special application which is not supported in  EVM TI provided. But if we purchase another EVM, which already has its own DLP6500FYE on it, right ? Then our DLP6500FYE purchased before would be wasted.

    So if it is possible that we ship out DMDs back and you do more process and package on it to make it as  EVM ?

    Hi Ruby,

    So if it is possible that we ship out DMDs back and you do more process and package on it to make it as  EVM ? - It would be simpler for you to return the DMD (I assume you should get a refund if you have ordered it from digikey) and order the EVM.

    Hello Sachin,

    We ordered it from Mouser, and Mouser said we cannot return because we have opened the box.

    Sorry but if there is any other solution to this case ?

    Hi Ruby,

    Sorry for the delay in response. As I said, It is cost effective to order a new one (Building entire EVM from scratch  is more expensive) and you can keep the DMD as well in case the current DMD gets faulty due to manhandling.

    Hello Sachin,

    Then buy a new EVM is not feasible for us because our boss doesn't allow money to be wasted.

    So we only just buy one more controller(DLPC900) then connect these two, and we can make the  DMD to display images ?

    Hi Ruby,

    Based on your application, The EVM board requires additional ICs for power sequencing, command interface circuits, LED drivers etc... along with additional components which is integrated, built and tested for you in the TI provided EVM. Hence , it is not simple to just connect a controller and a DMD to make it display images.

    You need to get a TI provided EVM (The simplest way) for displaying images
