DLPD4X00KIT: GUI software running slow then crashing

Part Number: DLPD4X00KIT

Hi,

I am trying to upload images to my D4100 and the GUI software keeps crashing.

Originally, the computer was not recognizing my device because I had not uploaded the drivers. I then corrected this and the device manager now recognizes the device and says it is working properly. However, when I start the GUI software is in very slow to load and if I click anything goes to "not responding". Then after a minute or two it crashes. Not sure what is going on here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hello Zachary,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E forums.

    A couple of questions:

    • What OS are you using?
    • Where did you get the drivers from?
    • What version of the DLP GUI are you running (Help/About)
      • It would be helpful to report everything from that window.
    • Is the kit a brand new kit or an older kit?  (i.e. when was it purchased)?

  • Hi,

    1. I am using window 10 pro (64 bit)

    2. I got the driver from the folder that the GUI software is in.

    3. The version I am using is DLP Discovery 4100 Explorer GUI (Rev. A) which was last published November 26, 2018.

    4. This is an older kit. I am not sure about the exact purchase date but the box says it was sealed in 2010.

Additionally, to install the driver I followed the steps in section 3.2.1 in the  DLP Discovery 4100 Development Kit Software User’s Guide (Rev. A)

    Thanks,

  • Hello Zachary,

I looked further into this and the issue is that version 2.0 of the software does not work with the older kits.  The kit must have the DLPR410A on it to work with v 2.0.

The older kits require v 1.0 which in the era your kit came from may have a CD with that version on it.  Unfortunately at this time the older version is no longer available on ti.com.

Here is a quote from the Readme.txt file:

  • Hi,

    Thanks for looking into this.

Do you know if the CD is available from TI. Can I get sent a copy or buy one? Basically is there anyway to get this software?

    Thanks

  • Hello Zachary,

This was originally a download to my recollection.  Let me ask about this.

  • Hello again Zachary,

I do not have a way to get an installation file to you.  TI has understandably become very strict about  this kind of thing.

You can ask the community to friend you and connect if they have a way of helping you with this.

I am sorry for the inconvenience!

  • Hello again Zachary,

I wanted to let you know that after a bit of discussion we decided to make the original version also available on ti.com.  With the current situation it took a bit longer than we had hoped, but it is now available on this page:

https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPD4X00KIT  - Scroll down to the "Software development (4)" section:

    It is the third item.

    Sorry this took so long.
