DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2: Random failure setting image orientation over i2c

Hi,

I'm having an issue setting the image orientation (flip and mirror) over i2c. The process I am using is as follows...

1) Write command to Display Image Orientation register 0x14 with bits 1 and 2 of the data byte set to required orientation.
2) Short delay (tested from 100ms to 1s)
3) Read back register 0x15 to confirm the orientation was set.

My problem is that in about 1 out of every 10 to 15 times, the orientation fails to change on the projector. During these failed attempts, register 0x15 reports the correct value and I see a disturbance on the projected image but the image orientation doesn't change to the new setting.

Any ideas on things to try or an explanation would be greatly appreciated..

Hi Andy,

Which firmware version are you using ? Have you tried the same thing with GUI also ?

Hi,

I did quite a bit of testing with Light Crafter and it appears to always work.

Hi Andy,

If GUI works always, in that case we need to check how you are sending the commands to DLPC.

Are you seeing the same issue in any other command too ?

Can you probe and check what activity is happening on I2C line when you are sending this command to DLPC.

Andy,

Are you seeing command failure in other commands too ? It will help me to understand if the issue is with hardware or command.

As you mentioned you are not seeing the issue with GUI. What GUI does it sends the command to cypress over USB then cypress sends the command to DLPC over I2C but in your case you are directly sending the command to DLPC over I2C.

I tried multiple times on my hardware directly to DLPC over I2C but i am not seeing this issue.
