DLP6500FLQ: Changing Display mode

Part Number: DLP6500FLQ

Hi

Let me talk about changing Display mode for DLP6500.

Should Host of I2C wait for a little time after change VideoMode/Video Pattern Mode via I2C.

Both SCL and SDA signal lines remain Low, after the first Ack in Figure 1-2 of Programmer's Guide,
if we issue a command to read Hardware Status after 5 ms.

If we should wait, How much should we wait ?

Best Regards
Hiroyasu

  • Hello Hiroyasu,

Changing modes does quite a bit in the controller, so there will be some wait time, but it is not specified.

A request has been made to the ASIC team to see if they have a recommendation. An answer should be given in the next day or two.

  • Hello HIroyasu-san,

Unfortunately this has not been timed.  It can depend on which mode you are switching from and to.

The best recommendation it so start with a large enough value that it will work and test it, then do a binary search to find the limit.

For example start at 50 ms.  If it works, try 25 ms if not try 100 ms.  And so forth, choosing the midpoint each time.  This will get you quickly to the limiting value.

I would recommend at least 10% margin once you find the value(s). [for example if you find that the value is 13 ms, then add 10% to make it 14.3 ms or round up to 15 ms.

I wish we had measured numbers, but we do not at this time.
