Dear technical staff,

I am very interested to buy a light crafter technology for my optics lab. I would like to include a DMD in an optical set-up, so that the incoming light comes from a luminescent sample and the outcoming light goes to a single pixel detector. I also need to display binary patterns with a ready to use control unit and control software.

I understood that all of this is included in the DLPLCR4500EVM, is that correct ?

I will need to remove the LEDs and the focusing length and to attach the DMD to a platform, is that possible ?

I believe that this EVM does not support disconnecting the LEDs such that the EVM will not boot if they are not connected. Are you looking to simply disable the LEDs are disconnect them altogether?

Philippe,

I would like to disconnect the LEDS so that they don't shine light, as it would create a background during my measurements. So I guess that disabling them would be sufficient. Would that be possible ?

This is certainly possible. Check the DLPC350 (the controller for this system) Programmer's Guide at:
www.ti.com/.../dlpu010g.pdf

See page 27 (section 2.3.7.1) for the LED driver control I2C commands. One of these commands lets you enable/disable each LED individually over I2C. You can use the I2C control module in the GUI to issue these commands.
