DM365 Flash

I am trying to write to an SD card the DM365 NAND.

I get the following error:

C:\Texas Instruments-DLP\DLPLCRSoftwareBundle-3.0\DLP3000-C300REF-DM365-v5.0>lcr_boot_sd.exe lcr_dm365_v5_nand.dat G:

Searching for image file location ..................
Image File Location : 0x1104000
Writing boot record
Error At : lcr_boot_sd.c:435 writeBootRecord!!!
Image copied to SD card SUCCESS

It says SUCCESS but prior there is an error. I am running command prompt as an administrator.

I am trying to do this as my projector gets to 100% on the boot screen and gets stuck.

Thanks

  • It is an issue on Windows 10. Worked on Windows 7.

Though I still cannot boot even after flash sequence. Flash sequence doesn't make it to color bar pattern.

On boot all LEDs are static Green, after some time the LED next to DM365 turns to static RED.
  • Hi Cole,

Sorry you're having an issue flashing the device. Just to clarify, before you used the SD card to flash the device, it was functioning normally correct? I ask because I want to eliminate the usual suspects of incorrect power supply and FW version.

Otherwise, did you follow the directions in the user's guide about formatting the SD card to be FAT32? My other thought is that perhaps you're trying to use an SDHC card. What size card are you using?

    Thanks,
    Paul

Yes, I had been using it for weeks. Just randomly the other day when I tried to boot it gets stuck at 95% of the way at the "Booting..." screen after I could not boot, this is when I tried to flash the DM365 because that had worked in the past.

Yes it is a FAT32 card. As I mentioned that same card worked when I did the process on Windows 7 but your tools seems to not work on Windows 10.

So how do I get the thing to boot again?

  • If the process worked on windows 7, does retrying the process on Win7 and then following the steps in section 2.13.2.1 and 2.13.2.3 in the user's guide solve the problem?

  • Paul,

The process worked fine on Windows 7. I get the error seen in the first post when I do that process on Windows 10. Consider that just and "FYI" as the issue I'm trying to solve is my projector not booting. It gets stuck on the boot screen at say 95% progress bar status. I've had this happen in the past and I just flashed the DM365 NAND and I'm good to go.

This is not the case this time. As when I flash NAND or try to boot from SD it still gets stuck at 95% when flashing NAND, trying to boot from SD or flipping the DIP switch back to DM365 side and powering on. To clarify no matter what I do it gets stuck at 95% on boot screen.

    Any thoughts on a fix?

    Thanks,
    Cole
  • Cole,

Thank you for the clarification. Here are the next steps that I would take because you've already tried to flash the NAND.

    1. If you're using a benchtop DC power supply, make sure that the current limit didn't get lowered by accident. It needs 3A to run properly.

    2. Can you try to boot from the SD card? There is a seperate image required for this process. It is detailed in the user's guide as well as here: e2e.ti.com/.../338497
If you're able to boot from the SD card, you should be able to connect to the GUI and reload the FW. Make sure you're using a non SDHC card.

    3. Collect UART information following the directions in this post (e2e.ti.com/.../253060) and using a program like HyperTerm. If you post the logs here, we might be able to diagnose what's going on.
