DLPLIGHTCRAFTER: Discontinued Power Supply - Other tested/reliable options?

Part Number: DLPLIGHTCRAFTER

Just purchased a DLP Lightcrafter Evaluation Module which does not include a power supply. The link included in on the Lightcrafter page brings you to an item which is now "obsolete". Has anyone found an alternative power supply which they have used and had good luck with?

  • Hi Jeremy,

Welcome to the DLP forums and thanks for your question! Here at TI we use the Phihong PSA15R-05P with a Philmore DC adaptor cord (no. 278) and they've been great. The adaptor cord takes 2.1mm x 5.5mm DC to 0.75mm x 2.35mm DC.

You should be able find these parts at major distributors - Digikey, etc.

  • Hey Paul,

Thank you for the assistance. When I search for the PSA15R-05P (Phihong), it tells me that the product on digi key is obsolete. If you all don't mind, could you send me the active links for power supply and adapter?

  • Jeremy,

Didn't know that one was obsolete too! Digikey's recommendation is this unit: www.digikey.com/.../5415055

I would buy that and find an adaptor that fits the terminal end of the above unit and adapts to 0.75mm x 2.35mm DC. Perhaps other users will chime in and say what they've been using. Like I mentioned, the Phihong unit is what we've been using in our labs, but we haven't had to purchase for some time.

  • Hey Paul,

We have received our DLP kit and I removed the light engine and rearranged the boards as we needed. We are having an issue with the board booting up after potentially subjecting the system to a larger than prescribed input voltage. I am worried I can not communicate everything that has happened and what actions we took via forum so is there a technician or DLP/DMD specialist I could speak with over the phone?
