DLPLIGHTCRAFTER: High pitched noise when set to Stored Pattern Sequence

Part Number: DLPLIGHTCRAFTER

When trying to load a sequence onto the Lightcrafter it immediately makes a very high pitched noise. This occurs right when the Stored Pattern Sequence is selected.

Is this normal and is there anyway to stop the noise?

We removed the Light Engine from our Lightcrafter. Could that be the reason for the noise?

  • Hi Jack,

Does the high pitched noise continue as long as the stored pattern sequence is running? Prior to removing the light engine did you hear this noise?

We do have some experience with this: all LightCrafters have some high-pitch noise. This is normal and expected and comes from ceramic capacitors and/or inductors at certain operational frequencies. It's quite noticeable when placing your ear very close to the LightCrafter board. It shouldn't be loud at > 1 foot distance.

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • The noise is certainly audible at grater than 1 ft. I am not sure if it was present before removing the light engine, but it certainly lasts the entire time the stored pattern sequence is running.

  • That certainly seems abnormal. Is there any change in the noise if you change exposure parameters for the pattern sequence? Make it slower than what you're using and see what happens.
