DLPC900: DLPC900

Part Number: DLPC900

Dear,

DLPC900 operate in Pre-stored Pattern Mode.

It takes a long time to switch the  pattern.   Can the waiting time be shortened?

For example, when i changed the Number of LUT entries  frome 1 to 15 (8bit Gray pattern),

after the whole configuration, when i sent the Start running the pattern  cmd, it will take more than 2 senconds to see the pictures projeted by DLP6500.

  • Hi Linxin,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E forums and thanks for your question!

I will need to double check on one of our EVMs, but this may just be the typical time it takes to update the LUT and I am unaware of any way to shorten it. Let me get back to you Monday/Tuesday with confirmation.

    Best Regards,

    Taylor
  • Hi Linxin,

This is because for each 8-bit patterns it downloads 8 single bit patterns to create the 8-bit grayscale patterns.  It takes time to download the patterns over USB before displaying the patterns.

  • Hi Fizix,

    Thank you for your reply.

In my case, the patterns are stored in the Flash Memory.

As you said, the process should be the same?
  • No,

When you run from Flash memory, it should be a bit faster, but the pattern LUT still has to update via the GUI or a batch file.  I haven't timed it out, but this sounds about correct.  The difference is that the pattern information does not have to go across USB, but should load from Flash memory.

I have not had opportunity to time it, but it does depend on the image content, since generally compression is applied.  It would be easy to check by loading up the patterns in Pattern-On-The-Fly mode and seeing how long it takes to load and run.  I suspect it will be longer than the 2 seconds.
