DLP4500-C350REF: How to create a line pattern?

Part Number: DLP4500-C350REF
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350, DLPLCR4500EVM

Hello,

we would like to use lightcrafter 4500 to use as a line scanning source. so we want to create a white horizontal line whose width and length can be adjusted and this line can be controlled to move up to down in a certain frequency.

Could you give us some suggestion on how to create a single adjustable horizontal white line in black background?

  • Hi Jason,

Welcome to the DLP Forums and thank you for your question!

The way the Lightcrafter 4500 works from a practical perspective is that it simply accepts image or video data as the input and will project that data exactly on the screen. Depending on what you're working on, some options include:

    * Use video streaming input and generate video frames with your white lines on the fly. The Lightcrafter 4500 can display frames at up to 120Hz.
    * Store patterns on the flash (but only a limited number) and use a pattern sequence to get the timing you're looking for.

From the way you've worded your question, you'll probably be best served by feeding the Lightcrafter 4500 video data.

Take a look at the DLPLCR4500EVM user's guide as well as the DLPC350 datasheet for more information. Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Dear Paul,

    Thank you for your reply.

From your kind and helpful answer, I know that if we want to change the width of the scanning line, the only way is to modify the source we input into the DLP, am i Right?

so for our purpose, the GUI control software may not be satisfied.

would you please to recommend some software which we can use to produce a line scanning video and its width and frequency can be easily modified?

    Thank you

    Jason

  • Hi Jason,

You are correct. The Lightcrafter just displays what you feed it if you're going to use HDMI input.

Unfortunately, we don't have any specific recommendations as far as SW goes for generating video. We've heard of customers using a wide range of solutions and many write their own code.
