DLP4500: How to realize the synchronization between DLP 4500 and camera?

Part Number: DLP4500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00254, DLPLCR4500EVM

I have used DLP 4500 EVM for 2 months. I can realize line pattern scanning by using the pattern sequence. The camera I have used is Point GrayBFLY-PGE-50A2M-CS and the capture mode is free running.  but now here came the problem. If the pattern period is too short, the pictures captured by the camera will miss.

So I want to realize the synchronization between DLP 4500 and Camera.

I have read your example application on 3D vision. And I have prepared the cable to connect the DLP and Camera.

But I am still confused about how to configure the trigger signal through the GUI if i want to make DLP to trigger Camera? I saw the trigger control parameter in the pattern sequence mode.

if i need to make my line pattern period and exposure is 100ms, how do I configure the trigger signal to make the camera capture each pattern?

I am looking forward to your reply

Thank you very much.

  • Hi Jason,

Have you taken a look at TIDA-00254? It is a reference design that provides all the necessary software for doing 3D machine vision and synchronizing the camera to the projector.

If you would like the the camera to be triggered by the projector, be sure that you are sending the trigger output signal from the projector to the camera. If you consult the DLPLCR4500EVM user's guide, you'll see which connectors provide those signals as well as how the trigger signals are configured.

You shouldn't need to configure the trigger through the GUI to achieve what you are after. For what it's worth, our design does things the opposite way - the camera triggers the projector. This way, we never miss.

  • Dear Paul,

    Thank you for your help.

I want to inquire something on DLP products. From your DLP products list, the illumination wavelength of your products can be easily divided into three range( UV, visible, NIR).

we want to use the light source whose spectrum covering visible and NIR, but there is no existing products can cover these range.

So can TI provide customized DLP products like what we need? If Could, plz give me a contact.

    best regards.

    Jason
