DLPC350: Cannot achieve pixel accurate "Pattern Sequence Mode"

Part Number: DLPC350

When I stream images over HDMI the output images are distorted.

When I look at the "Video Mode" tab in the GUI it shows "Display Area" as 1280x800 and cropped area as 912x1140.

I would guess that Display Area and Cropped Area should be equal and both 912x1140. My screen resolution for the display to the projector is 912x1140 so I'm unsure of the issue.

Please let me know what I need to do to get the Display Area to 912x1140. If I change it and "Set" it just defaults back to the 1280x800 so I have found no way to change the display area values.

  • Hi Cole,

In what way are the input video images distorted? My Lightcrafter lets me change the values with forcing them to be reset. I'm using a Win7 computer without a dedicated graphics card and I've set my second display to be "extend." The Lightcrafter external monitor resolution is set to 912x1140

Intuitively, you are correct that displayed area and cropped area should be equal, but on my system I need the displayed area to equal 1280x800 in order to see the whole image. I'll need to dig into why this is and what's really going on with these settings.

What happens on your system if you set the Lightcrafter resolution to 1280x800 on your computer?

  • Paul,

Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay. In 1280x800 I see the full image but worry it is distorted as it is mapping to native physical pixels at 912x1140 resolution and in my application I need to run in a mode where I can map my image to the physical pixels 1:1.

    Thanks,
    Cole
  • Hi Cole,

The only ways that I am aware of to make sure you're getting 1:1 pattern mode is to use pattern sequence modes, either with flash or video input. Using the standard projection input path may have non-native mapping, which is what those settings on the "video mode" tab control.
