DLP4500: Flip of Diagonal line on DLP4500

Part Number: DLP4500

Hi,

Let me talk about flip of DLP4500.

My customer want to use flip of West/East on Pattern Sequence mode.

But Diagonal line in Image is broken after flip like this.

Because of Diamond array.

Is there a way to avoid this ?

Best Regards
Hiroyasu

  • Hello Hiroyasu,

Thanks for uploading the image. In pattern sequence mode, what is your pattern source (flash or video)? My guess is this issue is caused by video processing done during the flip. If this is a concern it may be best to display both the pattern and flipped pattern (by sending in both patterns separately and not using the flip functionality).

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hi, Kyle

    Thank you for your reply.
My customer use Pattern Seqence mode and store Data in Flash.
Actually We see this issue on DLP4500 EVM.

and They can not increase bit plane.
Because My customer need 90 bit plane for continuously output.
I understand it can store upto 48 bit plane in internal memory
They will make 90 bit plane using flip.

We need to improve or avoid to this issue.

    Best Regards
    Hiroyasu

  • Hello Hiroyasu,

Could you go into a little more detail about how you produced this issue? It would be helpful if you could send me an example pattern where you see the issue. Also how are you evaluating the issue exists? Are you taking a picture to spot the issue. After I get these details hopefully I can better address the problem.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Hi, Kyle

O.K. We evaluate East/West of flip using DLP4500 EVM and GUI.

After Binary Download using GUI, I click East/West button on GUI,

In this case, This image is broken after flip like I upload image.

I have binary file and image file for this evaluation.

but I can not send you this. Because this is customer's binary.

Can you send me mail this address ? If you like

If you give me mail, I can send you Binary and image file.

    Best Regards Hiroyasu

  • Hi Hiroyasu,

I understand you may not be able to post the custom binary; however, are you able to post one of the projected images?

Additionally, how are you evaluating the image isn't doing what's expected? I just want to understand closer to what you are seeing and how you are viewing it.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hello Hiroyasu,

I believe I have confirmed that the flip behavior is working as expected. Essentially the flip happens with regards to an image with a rectangular format. However, since you are using pattern mode, the image is pixel accurate to the diamond array. Therefore, the flip transformation is done with respect to a rectangular image on a diamond image. This is why the image looks weird.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
