DLP4500: Problems of PRO4500 using DLPLCR4500GUI-3.1.0.

Part Number: DLP4500

Hello everyone,

I have recently bought a unit of PRO4500 with UV LED only using DLP4500 chipset and manipulated by the same software DLPLCR4500_GUI_3.1.0.

And I found that the regulated importing resolution of the image into the flash memory is 912*1140, which is in horizontal direction. However, the projection from the lens is 1140*912, which is vertical. But the transform of the image is not to turn it around 90 degree, instead, it squeezes and prolongs the original 912*1140 to fit 1140*912.

The figure showed above is the prolonged image of the designed pattern, which should be a symmetric dart shape in all direction. Is there any suggestion that could help solving the deformation of the image?

Besides, I also had trouble using the Video mode in the GUI software. The synchronization between the computer and the projection did not showed after I plugged in the HDMI and turned it to video mode. In video mode, I can only use the INTERNAL TEST PATTERN and IMAGE FROM FLASH. The PARALLEL RGB and LVDS options seemed out of function. Should I do any extra operation to synchronize the system or the machine simply doesn't provide such function?

Thanks for any advice!

  • Hi Jack,

Welcome to the DLP forums and thanks for your questions! For specific support on the PRO4500, you'll have to reach out to the manufacturer. However, I should still be able to answer some of your questions.

Regarding the stretching/deformation of the image, that is related to the diamond pixel architecture of the mirrors. There are 912 mirrors across the long edge of the DMD and 1140 mirrors on the short edge. Take a look at this FAQ post or do a search in the forums, this question has been discussed many times and I think you'll find an answer that makes sense to you.
    Question 3: e2e.ti.com/.../3425.alc-general-faq

Regarding video mode, this one I don't exactly know. When you plug the HDMI into a Lightcrafter 4500, it should automatically sync to the source and allow you see the output. I'm surprised that only test patterns work. I would reach out the manufacturer on this one.

    Best,
    Paul
