fiber couple laser as external light source with LC4500

I am looking for a way to run the DLP System with our own fiber couple laser.  We have recently finished working on one of our research setup. we want to use our own high power fiber coupled illunminators, is there a way to somehow do this?

  • Hello Ian, we (EKB Technologies) offer a Fiber Couple E4500 Plaform.   Since you mentioned using laser, i assume you have FC/PC or SMA connector. Our FC-E4500 platform is compatible with FC/PC fiber type.  In case you are using LED and a light guide (LLG) we also have an LLG version for FC-E4500 MKII to support that.

What is the wavelength spectrum you plan to work around?

We have a VIS Model, IR model or UV, In case you require a broad spectrum we can offer customization to support UV---->IR.

You can find additional information on our eStore at www..ekb.co.il.

  • Hello Ian and welcome to the E2E forums,

Yuval from EKB has a recommendation as you see above. If you are talking about using the original 4500 EVM we do not have any experience trying to add a fiber couple laser to it. I would say ensure you stay within the datasheet specs for the 4500DMD. You can also find a teardown of the light engine at e2e.ti.com/.../278008

If you have further followup questions feel free to ask!

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Thank You So Much Yuval,
It is good to understand there is a Fiber version for the 4500.
we plan to use 10W 850nm Laser source, could you please let me know if the system can handle this power?
    Ian
  • We have a FC E4500 IR version which supports 850nm. Regarding power, you can inject up to 15W in CW. If you wish to work at higher power levels it is possible as well if you can work in burst or PM.
