DLP4500: M29DW128GL70N seems to be EOL

Part Number: DLP4500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

Hi,

Let me talk about Flash of DLP4500.

DLP4500 EVM support M29DW128GL70N produced by Micron.
But this device seems to be EOL.

If you have a list of alternatives, would you please share it?

and Actually My customer would like to use MT28EW128ABA1LJS.
Could you check if it can use for DLPC350?

Best Regards
Hiroyasu

  • Hiroyasu,

I unfortunately don't have an alternative parts list on hand. Your best bet may be to inquire with Micron regarding what the best replacement for this part is.

The alternative you suggested appears to have a somewhat different pin diagram, so I am unsure of whether it would actually be compatible.

  • Hiroyasu-san,
Along with the pin to pin compatibility, if the device read and write access time within the flash specification, it should work, this is documented in the DLPC350 controller datasheet, under [Program Memory Flash Interface] section.

    Thank you for your reply.
    and I'm sorry. I have a misstake.

I said M29DW128GL70N is produced by Micron and it seem to be EOL.
But  It is produced by ST micro and EOL is not correct.  I'm sorry.

and I understand  It should be pin to pin compatible and same timing of read/write access.
My customer would like to use MT28EW128ABA1LJS.
Because it is used in other DLP project.

So, I would like to check if you checked Micron's data about M29DW128GL70N .
Actually I can not see this datasheet in Web site.

If you checked ST micro's datasheet and it is not pin to pin compatible,
I think my customer should not use this flash device.

Thank you for your support !

    Best Regards

  • Hiroyasu-san,
I think there is misunderstanding in our discussion, when you use any flash part to interface with DLPC350, first most important thing is the flash access speeds, if it is within the controller datasheet specification, it will work, you don't need to find part which is exactly pin-to-pin compatible of EOL part.

  • Hi, Sanjeev-san

    Thank you for your reply,
    I got it.
