DLPLCR4500EVM: LightCrafter 4500

Part Number: DLPLCR4500EVM

Hello,

I am trying to figure out what is the frequency of the "same side reset" that will occur in my application and how could I maximize it. Ideally, I would like to display a certain 1-bit pattern and hold it steady for a period of several tens of seconds. I understand from the discussions below that it is not possible, I would like to get as close to it as I can. Is there a place I could look up different modes of running the Light Crafter 4500 and the reset frequencies associated with them?

Thank you

Anton Travinsky

  • Hi Anton,

The periodic reset of the DMD cannot be controlled, it is part of the in-built display sequence, however you can try following configuration, this would add periodic dip in the light output ~236 periodicity, if your system can handle this one, you can use the same -

Another option if it doesn't work, just switch to external positive or negative trigger instead of internal, in this case controller wait indefinitely until the next trigger, you can pace your trigger accordingly.

  • Hi Sanjeev,

Thank you fro the reply. Could you please clarify for me: if my goal is to have a "truly static" pattern on the DMD - all the micromirrors in the active part of the array are always "on" and there are not resets for 1 minute or so, all micro mirrors are latched in their positions - can I do it with the external trigger? If I am using the internal trigger, the longest amount of time I can have the micromirrors latched in a certain position is 236 microsecond, is this correct? Also, I am having a very hard time locating this information in the LightCrafter manual. Is there a better source to look this up?

    Thank you
    Anton

[Sanjeev] Since the controller wait until next trigger, i am guessing there will not be resets happening. Please try once.

[Sanjeev] Please refer to the link https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp__mems_micro-electro-mechanical_systems/advanced_light_control/f/924/t/417946 for base exposure concept. Longest for 1-bit without reset will be ~510us.

Are you referring LightCrafter or LightCrafer 4500, here is the LightCrafter 4500 user's guide http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu011f/dlpu011f.pdf
