DLP4500: FW update is failed

Hi,

Let me talk about DLP4500.

When update the FW via the I2C from the application of the FPGA, there are cases where it fails as follows.

A) I2C communication fails (I2C bus busy) during image transfer with Download Data (I2C: 0x25).
B) Even if download data (I2C: 0x25) of DLPC 350 is executed with length "none"
After sending the image with Download Data (I2C: 0x25) for the size set by Download Data Size (I2C: 0x2C)
The checksum calculated by Calculate Checksum (I2C: 0x26) is different from the checksum calculated on the program.
As a tendency, the failure rate is high when the size to be transmitted with one Download Data (I2C: 0x25) is large.

In our environment, it succeeds if it is 15 bytes or less. But It failed in A or B in 26 to 254 byte.

Could you give me some advice ?

Hello Hiroyasu,

I would first like to clarify a few things. Is the customer using their own FPGA to interface to the DLPC350 over I2C? Or is the GUI used or some other form of communication?

My customer use I2C.
It means Their own FPGA access to DLPC350 via I2C.

Hi Hiroyasu,

I will have to confer with our expert on the DLP3000 software side (unfortunately he's out until next week). However, while I do that, are you able to see if you can communicate to the DLPC3350 using the GUI? That should help us determine if it's a software or hardware issue. If that succeeds could I get all I2C commands the FPGA is sending?

I understood your situation.

We already see download using GUI via USB.
But We try to download via I2C from external FPGA.
It means User can not use GUI .
(Other comminucation is working)

and I ask for DLP4500.

Hiroyasu-san,

You are correct. GUI always use USB interface only. Also, you can use one interface at a time, you shouldn't use both the interfaces same time.

Hiroyasu,
For the first question, i recommend using smaller size packets, actually the internal tool we use send 4 bytes of download data at a time, instead of large packets. So consider using smaller payload.

Actually The flash image should be larger than 15 Byte.

I understand user should not send image data continuously.
Is it correct ?
If my understanding is correct, I understand user have to make wait.

Let me check again, I'm so sorry.

Table A-9 mention that it is Up to 512 data byte.
But you recommend smaller size packet.(internal tool is 4 byte)
Is Table A-9 wrong ?

Hi Hiroyasu-san,
As i mentioned earlier, we recommend using the smaller payload size, the internal tool we used actually downloading 4-bytes at a time. Let me know if you are seeing issues with smaller payload size.
