tida-00293: DLP lightcrafter 4500

Hi, I want to make a DLP 3d printer and I'm following directions from this application. I already want to change the led for the uv lumiled (same indicated in the BOM) but not sure where to manufacture the board. 

Also would it work if I just fabricate a normal 2 layer FR4 substrate board instead of a metal core PCB? I think if i attach a cooler to the heatsink it could work or is there any electrical considerations I'm missing?

    I think what you would like to do is fine. There are no electrical issues that I am aware of. As you mentioned, heat is the major concern but as long as you are careful with cooling the unit, everything should be okay.

    We just found out that since the design you are following was released, the optics engine on the Lightcrafter 4500 has changed, meaning that the reference design for the LED board is no longer accurate dimensions. I recommend that you disassemble the optics engine and take measurements of the space where the LED board will go so that you can fabricate the correct size PCB.

  • Thanks Paul! I've already figured out when dissasembled my lightcrafter. BTW I can post the new eagle file for the board when I Finnish.
