DLP1PICOKIT: white & black dots problem

Part Number: DLP1PICOKIT

hello

I would like to ask for help regarding pico projector development kit that seem to have bad DMD.

I was trying to use pico projector development kit (v2) for creating light patterns.

However, when I attached the projector to the beagleboard and turned it on, a lot of white and black dots appeared on the screen.

If left on for some time, some white dots disappear but that seem to lead to more black dots.

Is there a way to fix this or replace the DMD part? Or will it be better to get a new projector?

  • Hi Seohyun,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for your question. The DLP1PICOKIT is a quite an old device and is no longer supported by TI. Are you sure that is the device you're using? How are you interfacing it to the Beagleboard? Any chance that you actually have a DLPDLCR2000EVM?

    Best,
    Paul
  • I'm pretty sure that it is DLP1PICOKIT. it says "Development Kit DLP Pico projector with DLP discovery 5000" on the box.

According to the label attached to the box it was bought in 2010.

I just connected it to beagleboard-xm via hdmi cable as it was booting up ubuntu to see how it looked.

  • Thanks for clarifying, it's not very often that we see one of those any more. As I noted, it is no longer supported by TI. Depending on your needs, you can look at the other EVM I mentioned or the DLPLIGHTCRAFTER may be another good option.

    Best,
    Paul
